Immigration Act 2016

The changes to the Immigration Act 2016 came into force on the 12th July 2016.

The main change to the act is the penalty for hiring an illegal worker.  You can now face up to five years’ imprisonment for knowingly/ignorantly hiring illegal workers.  This includes having ‘reasonable cause to believe that the employee is disqualified from employment by reason of the employee’s immigration status’.

Your workers, found illegally working also face imprisonment and/or fines.  Their wages will also be seized under the proceeds of the Crime Act 2002.Human Resources Outsourcing Services
