Employers recently seem to be embracing a diverse workforce, this includes tattoos in the workplace.
According to research taken from the Huffington Post, 80% of the younger generation of Professionals did not think that piercings and tattoos affect their chances of getting a job. However, having visible tattoos has shown a negative effect on employment selection.
The research also shows that the Clients/Customers preferred non-tattooed staff on the front line.
It all boils down to personal preference. Some employers don’t mind tattoos and some do. The younger generation seem to be more accepting of tattoos so in the years to come, employers are likely to become more and more lenient. For now though employers have some flexibility creating rules on employees presentation and its consistency with the brand image. Although flat out banning tattoos may be classed as discrimination, you can still put restrictions in place.
